The 10 most dangerous road sections in Metro Vancouver!

Driving in Metro Vancouver is neither easy nor easy. Although most drivers are of relatively high quality, there are still some “difficult” road sections that make new and experienced drivers helpless. In fact, major media outlets select the road sections with the most car accidents in Metro Vancouver every year, but they do not give the reasons.

From the perspective of a ten-year-old driver, the editor has summarized the “10 most dangerous road sections for driving in Greater Vancouver” and explained why they are dangerous. I hope it will be helpful for everyone’s driving. Because I mainly drive in the cities of Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, and Coquitlam, the ones listed are all from these cities.
Vancouver: Knight Bridge southbound, upper bridge entry point
Take the Knight Bridge from Marine Drive and head south to Richmond, which is where the most car accidents occur in Metro Vancouver every year. The actual experience is also the same: the speed of the two lanes next to it is very fast, and the distance to merge is very short. If the response is even half a beat slower, it will require rapid acceleration to merge, so accidents continue.

Moreover, due to the high speed of vehicles, fatal car accidents occasionally occur on Knight Bridge. Unfortunately, this intersection is already a frequent visitor to the “car accident blacklist”, but Vancouver has never thought of ways to improve it. It only added a traffic light to the northbound exit, but the southbound one remains the same.
Vancouver: East 12th Street, Fraser Road
12th Street is the main road in Vancouver. Because you can go to UBC in the west and Highway 1 in the east, there is a lot of traffic almost all day long. But the section from Fraser to Main Street on East 12th Street is very, very narrow because of the old trees beside the road.

It is obviously one lane wide, but it is designed to be two lanes in order to avoid traffic jams. Wider cars are “trembling” in the right lane and can only lean to the left as much as possible, which undoubtedly increases the probability of a car accident.
Vancouver: Boundary Rd&Kingsway

Boundary Rd & Kingsway at the junction of Vancouver and Burnaby is also very dangerous. The intersection of two major main roads is prone to car accidents. What’s more, Kingsway is a slanted main road, which will affect the view. In short, the hidden dangers are not small. The frequency of car accidents on this section of road is Also in the top 5 in Greater Vancouver.
Vancouver: Main St & Terminal Ave

Near the Vancouver Science Center, there are still two main roads intersecting. There is a lot of traffic, the intersection is a SkyTrain station, and there are many homeless people passing by, making the traffic always chaotic and unexpected situations always happen. Driving through here, you need to keep an eye on all directions and an ear on all sides.
Vancouver: West 41st Street & Cambie~Granville

Remember Vancouver’s worst car crash in recent years? A Chinese doctor was killed on the spot by a drag racing driver on West 41st Street & Granville. I don’t know since when, West 41st Street has become a gathering place for drag racing gangs, especially in the early morning and at night, so be careful when driving.
Richmond: Hwy99 & Steveston Hwy

The intersection with the most car accidents in Richmond and one of the most dangerous intersections in my own experience is Highway 99 and Steveston Hwy – relatively congested traffic, confusing signal lights, and lanes where you must turn right. The combination of various complex factors can make novice drivers somewhat unprepared.
Richmond: Massey Tunnel
Whether it is the most congested road section or the most prone to traffic jams, it is difficult not to consider the Massey Tunnel, which has always been a big problem: it has to be “crowded together” when merging, and the interior of the tunnel is relatively dark and the traffic volume is high. Big, fast…

The renovation project of the new Massey Tunnel is finally on the agenda, but it will still take N years to complete. In short, everyone still needs to be patient with this tunnel for a long time.
Burnaby: Canada Way & Kensington Ave

The winding road, very close to the highway merging point, and extremely heavy traffic… This intersection is one of the most frustrating intersections in Burnaby. Although there are separate left-turn traffic lights and right-turn traffic lights, But it still seemed chaotic during the morning and evening rush hours.
Burnaby: Kingsway & Metrotown
This is the CBD area of Burnaby, Kingsway next to Metrotown. There are many entrances and exits, large and small, from the south to the north, whether they are shopping mall entrances or apartment entrances.

There is already a lot of traffic, and from time to time a car “jumps” out from the side. Sometimes, if the driver in the rightmost lane is not careful, collisions may easily occur. As mentioned earlier, Kingsway is very sloping, which blocks the view when turning left or right.
Coquitlam: Hwy 7 & Brunette Avenue
The last dangerous section introduced is from Coquitlam: Highway 7 (Lougheed Hwy) and Brunette Avenue. This intersection is similar to Canada Way & Kensington Ave in Burnaby, where the main road merges into Highway 1.

With two left-turn lanes and two through lanes, many vehicles are forced to change lanes when approaching the intersection, causing the originally congested traffic to become even more chaotic. Moreover, like Kingsway, Brunette Avenue is also slanted…
The rainy season is coming. Friends who drive on these roads need to cheer up. The driving experience in Metro Vancouver is not as good as every year. We have to adapt ourselves.
